Meet the Board

Chair, CHMA Board of Directors
Mike Calvert, University of Guelph
I am pleased to serve as a member of the CHMA Board and support the goals of CHMA in assisting our entire membership in achieving successful operational results through information sharing, professional development opportunities, and industry resources and insights.
I’ve held the role of Operations Manager for University Centre Services at the University of Guelph since 2007 and strive to provide the best possible experience for our community within the central hub on campus. I am responsible for facility management and operation of our campus pub and bakery, The Brass Taps and Campus Bakery Co. as well as our Building Services unit, Digital Signage Program, and Programming Services.
When I’m not living in the University Centre day in and day out, I love spending time with my family on our hobby farm north of Guelph, adventuring the outdoors or experiencing the smooth and delicious taste of a premium Canadian Whisky on ice with friends. I am looking forward to engaging with members at our National Conference this June and working with the board in growing CHMA support and resources for members.

Vice Chair, CHMA Board of Directors
David Stalzer, Conestoga College
Born and raised in Kitchener, I attended Fanshawe College in London for Hotel and Restaurant Management.
Since starting my hospitality adventure at the age of 15 working as a dishwasher for Kelsey’s, I worked my way through the ranks holding several positions; from Primary BOH trainer on the opening team, Food Technician, to General
Manager. From Kelsey’s I moved into my dream job as a Food and Beverage Manager for Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment at both the Air Canada Centre (at the time) and BMO field. From there I moved into the hotel and conference center world and finally I landed here – the college environment!
Working for Mohawk College for a short term and finally as the F&B manager at Conestoga college. I am a big sports fan in general and love Baseball, Hockey and Football. I have a puppy named Cooper, he is a bulldog and a Boston terrier mix. Nachos are my favorite food!

Secretary, CHMA Board of Directors
Mike Mallaley, UPEI Student Union
I have been the Food and Beverage Manager at the UPEI Student Union for two years and have over 20 years experience in the industry. I have attended two CHMA conferences and look forward to working on the CHMA board with a group of fantastic people. In my spare time, I enjoy performing in local theatre productions and spending my summers in the seaside resort of Cavendish.

Treasurer, CHMA Board of Directors
Kiera Savoie, SAIT
Why hello there, I’m Kiera Savoie the Senior Operations Manager for SAIT. I am currently responsible for running a coffee shop, convince store, and food truck. I also am the ambitious one who pitches new business ventures to the student union.
I have been on and off the Board over the last few years and have been a member with CHMA for approx. 7years. I love being able to connect other schools who are facing the same road blocks and problems. This group have brought me out of many tight spots and helped me show up and be the best I can be for my own team.

Ex-Officio
Lisa Crocker, Durham College
Business Services and Lounge Operations Manager
DCSA – Durham College Student Association.

Coordinator, CHMA
Lora Zeldin, Nova Scotia
Where do I start? I like to jump in, help out, network, connect people, and just get things done.
As a grad from Centennial College, I dedicated 2-years to the Student Association CCSAI (Feel free to ask Penny and Brad all about me) and to this day I still maintain personal friendships and business relationships with many of the amazing humans I’ve met along the way.
I currently work as a consultant for DLS Hospitality supporting non-profits and small businesses with their marketing, events and partnerships. I have been involved with CHMA both as as sponsor and volunteer and love every minute of it!.
I am very excited to work alongside some amazing student leaders and I am happy to support any crazy ideas this Board of Directors or our School-Members may have.
Let’s do this! #ONEcampus
